The pianist Hiroyo Imagawa, now
living in Salzburg, was born in Fukui, Japan where she got her first piano
lesson at the age of five. Accompanied by numerous master classes and
chamber music projects, she completed her studies under Prof. André
Marchand at the Stuttgart Music Academy and Prof. Hans Leygraf at the
Mozarteum University in Salzburg earning her master's degree with highest
honor.
Hiroyo
Imagawa is a Prize-winner of several international competitions: in 2002
she won the 1st Prize and the special Debussy
Prize at the Piano Competition “Città di Salerno”, in the same year she
won the 2nd Prize at the J.Brahms Competition,
followed by the 3rd Prize at the Anton
Rubinstein Piano Competition in 2003 and the 2nd
Prize at the Schubert Piano Competition in 2005.
Her
performances include appearances at the established festivals such as
Schwetzinger Festival, Festival of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Flandern
Festival, Pianoforte Festival in Meissen and a high-profile performance in
the Royal Residence of Their Royal Highness the Prince Edward in London.
Being
a distinguished soloist, Hiroyo Imagawa was invited to give performances
with St. Petersburg Stage Symphony Orchestra of the Mussorgski Theaters,
Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra, Venezuela Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo
Philharmonic Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Kanazawa
Ensemble and Aichi Central Symphony Orchestra, collaborating with
conductors such as Andrei Anikhanov, Dirk Kaftan, Kenichiro Kobayashi,
Chosei Komatsu and Klauspeter Seibel.
Hiroyo Imagawa was awarded the honorable prize of the Austrian Minister of
culture.
